I disagree. The point of view of the organization choosing what information and stories to put out totally changes the reality of what goes on across the world. Similarly, the things they choose to focus on and information the choose to leave out can change the perception of what problems we are really facing.

I strongly disagree that the media delivers fair and accurate representations. You need to do your own fact-checking and explain to children early that the TV/Internet does not always tell the truth.

I disagree and agree. They do show events that are happening however media transforms everything into representations of what is really going on. Too much opinion and tweeking occurs to ever know if its truly factual.

I strongly disagree with this statement. There is so much instant access to information and so many different and new ways to share it that we as a society are on information overload. Just the definition of media is changing daily. It requires incredible diligence just to research the facts let alone distinguish any biases applied on the part of the reporter or agency.

I strongly disagree. Talk about diversity! The media is full of it. What one reporter says, the other says the opposite. The media is absolutely not a reliable resource for fair and accurate accounts from around the country. The ways in which we voice what's important and worth sharing is influenced by diversity.

Media gives us a very warped opinion of what is real and what is not. Many times the worst opinions are broadcast as being true. The media just wants to write stories that are news worthy and its difficult to believe most of the stories.

I also disagree on the reliability of the media.Different media outlets are going to have different examples.
for example fox is very conservative and will have a heavy biased towards republican ideology
And the New York Times will have a very strong democratic ideology. Giving a different message even if it was on the same story.

I agree and disagree. It depends on the source. Also in many instances it just takes time to figure out the truth. Many times people are quick to get the story out so they can be the first but then as facts come out stories need to be adjusted. You can believe everything you see, just use best judgement.

I disagree. All humans are inherently biased and all media is created by humans, so therefore, all media is inherently biased. That being said, not all media is created equal. There are a few more reliable sources of media and news that abide by certain journalistic principles in order to eliminate as much bias as possible. We should strive to incorporate these less biased sources of media such as books and toys into our learning centers, and also include a variety of media of different slants.

I must have missed something because I am having trouble seeing the relevance of the question. However I dissagree that one can make any generalities about "the media" and it's accuracy just like we cannot safely make generalizations about ethnic background or gender with true accuracy. We have to carefully consider the source of any information we consume and be prepared to further research an idea from another source to be sure about it's fairness or validity. Otherwise we are vulnerable to the bias that so many of us mention.

I strongly disagree with the statement "Media in general delivers fair and accurate accounts of events around the country." Media in general is about giving audiences what they want to see. Because of this media is not a best practice to relay accurate accounts of events around the country. Race, Gender, Age, Beliefs are all skewed from a point of view from a media perspective.

I disagree, depending on where you live, the demographics and what media you are relaying on for your news can all play a part on how the story is told. A lot of times bogus facts are shared. I have seen this happen before in regards to many different stories happening around the USA at any given time.

The media does give people the general facts about events across the Country. So the person watching the news can know of major happenings. However the media is certainly can be biased in their interpretation of events according to their political leanings.

Anyone who believes the media fairly and accurately reports what is going on around the country needs to open their eyes and look at whats going on around them. Media sources report what they think will get them the most ratings and is biased to whatever side of the fence the media company owners want it to go. Liberal sources spin the news to their advantage just as conservative sources spin things to their view. One must learn to read between the lines and do a little research on their own to get a more full picture of what is truely going on. If they don't like a particular story it not get reported at all.
