All the kids were well behaved. They were working as a team. They were all involved in constructive play. Usually you have a kid in the class who is destructive by nature, he likes to mess up other kid's activities, but it was not the case here. Even though they spoke different languages, they were able to work really well as a team.

The kids develop reflective abilities shown on video during the course of their learning Reflection should initially develop in safe environments where mistakes are tolerated. He/she can then reflect and discuss the decisions that were made during their supervision sessions with their teacher. Reflection should become integral to these sessions.

Reflection involves describing, analysing and evaluating our thoughts, assumptions, beliefs, theories and actions. Reflection in a process that is engaged in as part of learning is a skill which needs developed and enhanced. identify the importance of reflection in teaching and learning and to discuss how it might be used in the school. Teacher can assist the learner in reflecting upon their practice/work and learning whilst at the same time enhancing your own reflective skills. Reflection is not an 'add-on' piece to your learning process, portfolio, or teaching practice. It is integral to the complex process of becoming an educator. Successful reflection enables selfawareness, personal and professional growth and improved teaching practices.

You can see the differences in development of the children i the video by how they interact and play together. Pre-kindergarten aged children develop their language by using their verbal skills along with gestures and body language. The children in this video speak Spanish, English, or a combination of the two. A few of the children also used hand gesture while speaking to express their ideas. They were also engaging in imaginative play, talking about sharks, guns, and spaceships while building.The children also showed differences in social development. Some of the children were very enthusiastic about speaking and playing with one another while others were content observing or engaging more quietly in parallel play. Children at this age also enjoy working together toward a goal. In the video children took turns adding blocks to build their house. One child moved a block that was standing to lay it down like the others. Children in this age group begin noticing mistakes and trying to fix them. I am participating in step 2 of the cycle by reflecting on what I observed while watching the video. I used my knowledge of child behavior and development to make concoctions between what the children were doing and why they may be doing it.

The children in the video expressed various forms of play. Some interacted together consistently while others preferred to work alone for part of the play. Verbal and non-verbal body language was communicated as well as a mixture of English and Spanish. Imaginative play was demonstrated.

I also agree with this statement. You can see how the different children adopted different roles in playing. Some initiated activities while others observed or followed. The children would take turns responding and trying activities.
By answering the questions we are participating in step 2 of the cycle (reflecting) which required us to complete step one (observing) first. The next step would be to apply our reflections if this had been a real life observation

I agree. This group of children was able to work together, and around each other, without conflict. At the beginning of the video, one of the children corrected a block another child placed standing up - as you said, children this young are noticing mistakes and doing their best to fix them.
Some of the children worked together and some alone - at one point, two lone children found each other and began building a "house" while the other children laid blocks down to make what they "called a "shark". These kids are using a lot of imagination while using their developing fine motor skills to carefully stand blocks up. Other children roll cylinders down the block road while a girl nearby sets up blocks in a pattern. Some of the children use hand gestures at well as language to express themselves.

I noticed that the children were speaking both English and/or Spanish. They played very well together and respected each others space and were able to share with no problem. I noticed some of the children built up with the blocks -while others laid them flat. There is imaginative and cooperative play shown!

One child discourages another from building on his work. He has expressed that he is building a shark. He is proud and possessive of his work and idea at first, but eventually lets the other boy play and then build with him. They build a house for the shark to go into.
Other children build window panes for the house they are building in the middle of the enormous shark/shark road.
There is a mix of Spanish and English being spoken amongst the children. Some prominently Spanish, or English, and some children are speaking both intermittently. Though both languages are being used by different children, language does not seem to be creating a barrier in their play,
Reflecting on these observations, I might begin an English and Spanish lesson plan to instill a further understanding and grasp on both languages. Perhaps a dual language lesson using building supplies and various sea life, then bringing those into play where we build homes for the sea life and describe the objects in both languages.

I observed creative, cooperative play between the kids. While some were most definitely working as a team to make their construction, others were engaged more in parallell play, showing that these children perhaps need special attention/curriculum to encourage cooperative play. I would also use this observation to focus more on biligual lessons, teaching both Spanish and English to all children,

The kids are playing really well with one another . The fact that some spoke one language and others spoke a different one wasn't an issue at all. Also I'm impressed with how well they respected their others students blocks and designs including the space.

From my observations the children in the video play well in the same environment and are able to interact with one another in a positive and productive way. They observe the actions of one another and respond to the activities that they see.

Some kids are speaking Spanish while some are speaking english,but language doesn't seem to be a barrier as they are cooperatively communicatino relaying on their body language and signals,they are showing good team work where they are trying to build up a shark house together, though some are bouncy going to and forth on their work,we can see some are more focused on building part of the module while others are engrossed in the imaginary play,,this shows their individual development continuum
,after observing and reflecting on how we can continue to engage the kids towards developmentall learning,we can see that the teacher encourages them by showing her interest in their building activity by asking them as what they are building and what it is all about ,which I would have done the same if I were there .

at this stage of development 4-5 years the child like to use his imagination, and this video show the imaginative play and the cooperative play. they are building a shark with the blocks. At this age they start to build a relationship with their peers and play with each other, they can make a plan together to build something, and this is what happen in this video. the children interact very well with each other and they are building together a shark in a cooperative play. even if they don't speak the same language, they are able to communicate. some children cooperate and collaborate while an other child engaged in a parallel play. each child showing their own personality, some of them are more expressive than others.

the children have different ideas about how the blocks work. Some are willing to support the ideas of others, while some are stuck on how it has to be. They are exploring what the blocks mean to them, and most of the kids are getting along with each other. Reflecting on how they interact and perceive things around them, this gives me ways to broaden their critical thinking skills.

I am watching and listening for ques that help me establish behavioral markers. I am looking at their interaction with each other to observe their social development. I am interested in what toys they are choosing, what they are doing with them, and how they work together using them to assess each of their cognitive and emotional skill set. I am looking at their physical coordination as they move around the environment to see that they have the space and ability to play safely.

The children are engaged in different areas of development. One child is showing math skills by knowing he is missing one piece of the semi-circle blocks to make a whole circle. A teacher could add more pre-math skills to this child's curriculum. Other children are doing dramatic play, pretending to be the shark. Others are showing creative representation, their "casas" or houses. There's one boy asking others if they want to "jugar" or play with him, which is a social skill. Many areas for the teacher to expant their learning.

The children are playing together without much issue of space or language barriers. They're engaging in imaginative play and do not seem to need to verbally communicate. Instead they work with and around each other and respect creations.

Because the children are in a pre-k classroom, that means that there are four year olds and five year olds. The developmental stages are similar, whereas they enjoy imaginative and cooperative play. Pre-K children are beginning to not only understand the concept of sharing, but actively implementing it in their play. It is important for teachers to observe the children playing with one another because you can learn the interests of the child and incorporate those interests into the curriculum by reflecting on what the children are doing.

I observed that there were kids that were working together to build. They were taking turns inputting their ideas and accepting others ideas. I also noticed children who were involved in play with a long attention span. I also noticed that there was a child who noticed a missing block. I would take these observations and plan my curriculum based on what I have noticed to keep the learning going. This may include language skills. This also might include math in relation to shapes and also social skills to support the ability for these kids to play together cooperatively.

It appeared that some spoke Spanish and some English. Whilst some of the children chose to play with peers, others chose to play independently. In their imaginative play, both small and large motor skills were used .
By observing the class through this video I am participating in step 1 of the cycle, and by reflecting on the behaviors I saw, I am reflecting on how best I can encourage them in their learning.

This pre-k classroom seems to be populated by kids of a similar age, I am guessing 4-5 years old. I observed a young child asking for "help from another child or an adult to solve a problem" (finding another curved block), I saw children "able to think about behavior, being cooperative and nonhurtful. Able to talk about the best ways to do things" with other children as they began to cooperate in the building. The children we able to "listen to what other children want and make plans that take these desires into account." Reflecting on these observations gives a sense of where these children are at developmentally and would influence decisions on different activities and learning opportunities I would offer in the future.

The children are playing with another regardless of different languages. They are developing large motor skills and social skills. Giving a child some free play helps the teacher guide and direct her lessons in the future. She can use that information to help promote activities that will continue to strengthen that skill.

Use the Early Learning and Development Guidelines book as a reference to help identify differences in development between the children in the video.
The differences can be seen with the children who speak varying languages. Another difference that I noticed was the fact that certain children tried to avoid playing with other people, while others seemed to not mind it. I also observed that one of the children was talking about guns, which is a red flag to me - this behavior should have been discussed about and he should have been redirected. Reflecting gives teachers a chance to establish where children are at cognitively, developmentally, and establish where they are at as far as behavior. Reflecting can also help teachers to decide if they need to change current strategies, alter them a little bit, or keep with their current strategy.

In this video we can see children in this age are able to play and participate in activities with their classmates. They express their feelings and emotions and use words to describe them. They are able to make plans for the activity and follow them. Most children were flexible in sharing. The girl in the video is playing alone. she needs to be observed more to see if she always wants to play alone,because by this age children should enjoy joining other children in play. By asking questions about the activity we can participate in Reflection.

Even though they all speak differently, some English and some Spanish, they can still communicate with each other through body language. From their reactions, they can play well with each other. From this video, I can see that some don't mind to play together, but some don't like to be involved, like to be independent. This can be well described that each child has different personalty, and teacher should stay close to who wants to be independent, because we want to see if she is able to be social or not.

In this video, we can observe the difference in development between the children by paying attention to how they engage with one another. For this age group, preschool to kindergarten, parallel play begins to diminish and cooperative play begins. In this video, I can see that despite language and cultural barriers, the boys involved seem to not only interact with one another but they also respect each other. As the video progresses, more children may enter the picture, but they are not imposing, instead they work together and play cooperatively. As the teacher, this is not a situation that calls for a teacher to step in and lead, the group seems to be engaged enough to keep play and learning going. Instead of focusing on "planning," I would try to gather as much information about each child as possible.

Children at this age are starting to feel more comfortable using their social networking skills and that are settling into their roles in the group dynamic as the planner, leader, observer, etc... These children had a common goal and were able to work together cooperatively for the duration of the video. The mixture of languages didn't have a negative impact on the atmosphere of play and they were able to communicate well nonverbally through body language and gestures. The children appeared to be familiar with one another and comfortable in the social system they created. The teacher can you this time to reflect on what brought the group to this point of cooperative play, have struggles been overcome etc.. it's also a good time to think of ways to develop from this point.

I thought that all the children seemed very well mannered and seemed to be well behaved. I noticed that they were working together and were involved in the class activites. They spoke different languages but they all seemed to get along well and were able to communicate well.

You can see the differences in development in this video due to the fact that the children are engaged and listening to what the others in the classroom are doing, and they are making an effort to create the roles of leader and follower etc...With the step two in the cycle the teacher should be reflecting on the fact that the children were playing well together, but a couple of children needed to be redirected... Also at one time there was a little girl who was playing alone, and as the teacher they should look into that.

I can observe that the children enjoy creating their own play activities and engaging in imaginative play. The boy in the grey sweatshirt seems to be pretending to try to catch a shark or make a house for the shark. He is able to communicate effectively with the other boy in black to share the blocks, take turns, and work as a team to build the blocks all the way around the carpet. The other boy with the blue sleeves originally was working alone but then another boy in yellow joined him. The boy with the blue sleeves was different than the boy in grey because he was less willing to share the blocks. He did not seem to like it when the boy in yellow messed up the door and window blocks he was using, and seemed to be less able to work as a team compared to the boys in grey and all black.

I am reflecting on my observations by trying to evaluate the differences between the boys in the video, in terms of their social skills and peer interactions. My reflections would help me to work better with the kids to encourage them to share things with one another and work as a team.

the kids played really well with each other even if some spoke a different language. The kids in this classroom are all play in a small group and getting silly together. They are very social. Even some of them maybe have difference language, they still play well. But as we can see, one of them are strong role model, the others like to imitate him in this fantasy play.
I won't step in and lead, the group seems to be engaged enough to keep play and learning going. As a teacher, what I can do is provide a safe environment and encourage them.

Some of the kids play with each other the whole time and very verbal speaking in spanish and english and using body language and dramatic imaginative play to communicate despite the language barrier, while other children play quietly by themselves and observe other children.

By using the Early Learning and Development guidelines as a reference, it helped to identify the differences in development between the children in the video. They appeared to work nicely together and respect each other's play space even though a couple of them seemed to speak Spanish. They seemed to be very focused on the blocks and seemed to get along socially. Sometimes they even appeared to enjoy playing alone and never seemed to bother each other. Therefore, I am participating in step two of the cycle by reflecting on my observations of the video to see the specific social tendencies of each of the children.

The video shows developmental differences among the children as some chose to speak mostly in Spanish and others preferred to use English. The children were capable of communicating ideas and working together to reach a common goal and engage in imaginative play together despite the language differences. writing observations about the video and why/ how the children interact with one another is a pert of the reflection process

In the video the boys all speak Spanish. Most speak some English, to varying degrees, and a combination of Spanish and English. Most of the boys are able to work together to build, taking turns guiding the project. They also come and go from the group activity, sometimes working on an individual building, then participating in the group again. Writing out and considering my observations is reflection.

All the children are respecting each other's space while some are able to be more focused than others and play with one set of blocks for a longer period of time I would say they have the emotional maturity to play with one another without much conflict. Some of them were using imaginative play while some were more focused on reality like the one who kept asking for the last block to complete the circle. Overall they play very well and calmly with each other. I am using reflection to describe what I saw while watching the children play and what I assume of them based on what I saw there and what i can conclude from that.

I agree with Annie H. I also really enjoyed see how well they all played together in one space without argument. It was wonderful to see the students using multiple languages and communicating with each other respectfully. It was also wonderful to hear the imaginative play that they had going on.

e children have different ideas about how the blocks work. Some are willing to support the ideas of others, while some are stuck on how it has to be. They are exploring what the blocks mean to them, and most of the kids are getting along with each other. Reflecting on how they interact and perceive things around them, this gives me ways to broaden their critical thinking skills.

This is a rich activity which kindles children's imagination and creativity. We can see the kids initiating conversations, developing their stories on what they are building, sharing their ideas to their friends and expressing what they are making with verbal sounds and described with their words, they help each other in developing the structure they are working with, they are focused and uninterrupted with other friend's individual contribution to their work, effective communication is observed.

The children spoke in both Spanish and English. Although they each had different ideas on what they wanted to build. They used their own ability to help and understand each other by hand gestures and communication. Some kids appeared as more of "leaders" while others just went with the flow. They all interacted and played great together in this classroom with this activity.

There are some children who seem to be playing together by communicating and both participating in using the blocks to play and build. Even though the children that are communicating are speaking both Spanish and English the seem to be able to understand each other. There are other children that seem to be playing together with very little communication and they both don't seem to build very much but play with the blocks more.
To reflect on this observation the teacher might think about how the two children were communicating in both Spanish and English. The teacher might also reflect on the children who were not communicating as much and weren't being as creative with their blocks.

A few of the children are working together to create a line of blocks around the room. They seem to be cooperating to work on the task which is an expected form of play for children around 5 years old. Other children are working with a few blocks on their own, but seem to have some imaginative play going on as well. This is developmentally expected with 3-4 year old children. By identifying the different types of play based on developmental stages, I am using the reflection step of the cycle of curriculum.

The children in the video are working very well together despite the barrier in language. Some spoke English while the others spoke Spanish. You can also see where distraction came into play and the older children did not engage. You can see where some children have had more time to socially develop to noise distraction and choose to ignore it. I am participating in reflection when I notice that this actively happens I my classroom and I realize now that I am great at observing.

Also I realized the children were speaking both English and Spanish.Some of the children spoke both , and some focused more on Spanish.

The kids played very well together. The two were very cooperative with each other and respectful in the others opinion. Their imagination and their block structure was very imaginative. One child preferred to build mostly alone with little interaction and was very possessive of his work. He eventually warmed up. I think team building is an important part of a curriculum.

All the children are working constructively as a team, and by the sound of it using bilingual communication, along with gestures to communicate ideas better. There seems to be a common goal in mind, either a road or path of some type. They all seem to be emotionally balanced, and differ in preference to be working in teams or in parallel play (as the girl in the boots is doing).

This particular diverse class is busy are engaged in playing with the blocks. They seem comfortable with their classmates and readily sharing the blocks amongst each other. Also every other child is constructing different structures with the blocks.

in this video I observed the children were well behaved. they all were working as a team. They had constructive play, most of the time you will have a kid in the class that is destructive by nature and likes/enjoys to mess up other children's activities but it was not the case in this video. Even though they spoke different languages, they were able to work really well as a team. all of the children seem to be emotionally balanced as well, it was very noisy but the children were able to handle it well.

In this video I noticed children were speaking both English and Spanish. This children all had different ideas of what they wanted the blocks to be. Shark, train etc and voiced what they were trying to create. Some children played together and others seemed to play more parallel and observing the play. These children used their imaginations well. I would use reflection to lesson plan and have these children retell their ideas.

I observed that the children played very kindly together. They showed very good teamwork in the shared building of their creation and also were sharing thoughts and ideas of how to incorporate imaginary play as well as playing with blocks. they also showed a good understanding of different cultures some children talking to one child in English and another in Spanish. The children also did a great job of sharing their "play space' and allowing the other children to partake in parallel play in the same area and not fighting over space and material.

The children were speaking using both English and Spanish and using imaginative play which is appropriate for age 4. Some of the older children were more realistic about their play and were concerned with finishing the circle. The children were respectful of each other and showed maturity during this free play time. I used the reflection stage of in the cycle of curriculum development.

They asked to play with a toy instead of just taking the toy they wanted and when they were not understood because of a language barrier they were able to communicate using body language. while looking at the early learning and development guidlines book i came across that some kids that learn faster and slower both have different learning options and then looking at the handout of the cycle of curiculum development, i reflect on two of the kids in the video maybe learning at different paces from one an other. for example one of the kids knew that he needed one more block to compelete the cirlce that he was trying to make.

I thought the children worked very well together, while having 2 different languages spoken, and a couple of the kids who would rather work alone, yet partially worked with the others to accomplish the same thing. Overall they worked together as a team, we behaved and mannered. The imagination of these kids is amazing. I just thought there would be that one destructive kid to come out of nowhere and wreck it all, but not once was there selfishness. That says a lot.

These children are showing both parallel and cooperative play. The two boys in black and gray appear to be very active and are playing well together. They are participating in good communication between each other and the children who are playing independently near them. While they are definitely active and higher energy they have their bodies under control and are not disrupting other children's play.

The two boys in yellow and dark blue are playing together cooperatively and appear to be on the quieter side. They're bodies are calm and they are playing in a confined space. They have no problem interacting both together and with the boys in grey and black, but are relatively quite and calm.

The girl in blue is playing relatively quiet independently, but is also interacting with the boys in grey and black without any problems. She shows interest in the other boys' play but continues independently.


Discuss how you are participating in Step 2 of the cycle (reflection) during this activity.

I am reflecting on the observations made in this video to better understand each individual child, this will give me a better idea of each child's temperament and how best to suit their needs

What I observe from the video above is that the children are doing very well interacting with each other, even though they are in such a small space, without arguing. They do well communicating in multiple languages and gestures. The boy in the gray hoodie did well completing the block trail around the room. All the boys worked very well together constructing the "house". They did well using their imaginations. They girl, although more independent also socializes with the boys although she is playing on her own.

What I observed was two different kinds of play being engaged in,cooperative and parallel. The boys playing with the blocks were communicating with a mixture of Spanish and English. Body language as well as hand signs were also a way for the boy to express themselves. the boy with the door and windows played by himself letting the building the other boys were doing just go on around him without it becoming apart of what ever he was imaging in his mind. Seeing both of these things going on I would encourage one or both of the other boys to include the quite boy into their play.

Pre-kindergarten children develop their language by using their:
1. Limited Verbal ability.
2. Hand Gestures
3. Body language.

Some kids are speaking Spanish or English. Some are speaking combination of the two. Some are using hand gestures to enhance their ideas.They were enjoying their building activity by talking about sharks and spaceships.

Some of the children were group oriented. They were engaged with their peers, speaking and playing with one another while others were playing quietly. Children are taking turns to build their house project. Children are noticing mistakes and trying to fix them. I am reflecting on my observation and participating in step 2 of the cycle. I got to understand the following points:

1. What the kids are doing and why?
2. How they are performing their activity?
3. Difference in their verbal abilities.

The children develop reflective abilities shown on video. Reflection should initially develop in safe environments where mistakes are tolerated. The children interacted well together.

Reflection involves describing, analyzing and evaluating our thoughts, assumptions or beliefs. Reflection in a process that needs developing and growth. Identify the importance of reflection in teaching and learning and to discuss how it might be used in the school. Teacher can assist the learner in reflecting upon their work and learning from it. Reflection is necessary in order to be a good teacher. Successful reflection enables personal and professional growth.

There were several different developmental things going on in that video. There were the two kids that had the conversation about the crocodile and shooting it with a gun and then cutting it with a knife and eating it for dinner. I noticed that the boy that was going back and forth the most seemed to be either more interested in building the path for the shark or be was more focused in general. There was also the little girl that we saw near the end of the video. She seemed a little bit like an outsider, someone who was more struggling more socially. The reason that I am saying that is because she was playing by herself more and not really interacting with the other children besides a couple of sentences.

The one girl in the video mostly played by herself, indicating she has less social development than the boys who were all working together. In the beginning, one of the boys was imitating what he say the other children doing. They all played very well together and got along surprisingly well. In reflecting on these children I am able to see where their development is and begin to develop curriculum to help them traverse further into their development of gross and fine motor skills, emotional autonomy and verbal and nonverbal communication. I can begin to develop more challenging curriculum that will help them grasp more and more mature understandings of these developmental milestones.

The children don't use their language as a barrier. They just use coping skills to find different forms of communication. They are working well together and building on each other's work for the most part. I am involved with reflecting by helping facilitate any language barrier that can't be easier overcome with other forms of communication. watching and allowing more intricate toys as the students develop.

I am participating in step 2 of the cycle by using reflection on what I have observed in this video. I will use my knowledge of children and development to create a curriculum and anything else I see useful. As you watch the video you can see difference in development during interactions traded between two children and how they play together. Some kids were talking about sharks and building a shark road, while others were gesturing ideas and others were fixing things to perfection as their friends built. They all worked toward one goal, which is very common at this age.

I think it's important to reflect on how much they enjoyed creating their own stories while using the blocks which shows great delevopment in imaginative play. I think it is obvious some children felt more comfortable working with the blocks alone while a couple preferred to play with others throughout the video. They did a great job sharing and worked together to create he structure as well as the story changing with no arguing.

I observed positive learning behaviors where kids were working together at teams, sharing, creating group projects with blocks, expressing their imagination and very little disruptive behavior. They were at least 4 years-old. Upon reflection, I would mix up the group dynamic to change the learning behaviors to challenge them in a positive way and create new friendships.

We see different children playing and participate in activities. They find an activity and follow through.They're able to express emotions and feelings with their words. Most children able to share. I did notice a girl in the video playing alone. Observation would be good, because by this age children should enjoy joining other children in play. We can't determine where this behavior falls until more observations are made though,.

A few developmental differences can be observed in this video. There are some children who are working together while others are working alone. The children are socializing and taking part in imaginative play saying they are building a shark or their house. Some children utilize large amounts of space to create a large block structure while other children limit their space to a tiny personal block structure. Furthermore, there is a variety of language in the classroom: some Spanish speakers, English, or a mixture.

Some kids are speaking Spanish while some are speaking english,but language doesn't matters here because they where playing very well together even with the language barrier. they just used other way to communicate together.all the kids were well behaved. they were working as a team.

The kids were very well behaved. They were working together as a team They were all involved in play. Usually you have a kid in who dosen't like to listen. The kids spoke different languages and still they were able to work together as a team.

There are a variety of different developments being shown. Some kids interacted with each other while some kept to themselves. Some spoke to each other in both English and Spanish while others used the languages and/or gestures. With these observations, one could reflect why on these and apply knowledge and assistance to kids who may not be at the developmental level they should be.

You can see the differences in development of the children i the video by how they interact and play together. Pre-kindergarten aged children develop their language by using their verbal skills along with gestures and body language. The children in this video speak Spanish, English, or a combination of the two. A few of the children also used hand gesture while speaking to express their ideas. They were also engaging in imaginative play, talking about sharks, guns, and spaceships while building.The children also showed differences in social development. Some of the children were very enthusiastic about speaking and playing with one another while others were content observing or engaging more quietly in parallel play. Children at this age also enjoy working together toward a goal. In the video children took turns adding blocks to build their house. One child moved a block that was standing to lay it down like the others. Children in this age group begin noticing mistakes and trying to fix them. I am participating in step 2 of the cycle by reflecting on what I observed while watching the video. I used my knowledge of child behavior and development to make concoctions between what the children were doing and why they may be doing it.

I observed the children were speaking English, Spanish, and a combination of both and although with the language barrier they were still communicating with each other and working together collaboratively using words, gestures, and body language. To participate in the process of reflection I would engage with the students through asking them questions about the lesson and following up with a English and Spanish lesson to introduce the students to new languages and to help them learn words so they engage in more discussion with their peers.

I am using step 1- Observation, simply by watching these children play with their blocks.

Using step 2- Reflection, I can establish from my observation that the children appear to have different levels of comfort with English, some preferring Spanish while others use English to discuss sharks, guns, and spaceships. I also noticed the children who communicate more using Spanish also seemed to be the more introverted children. Id want to make sure their quiet behavior is not due to an inability to communicate effectively.

I am using step 1 - observation to view these children during their play. I am using step 2- reflection to step back and consider that the children were using an array of communication skills to interact. English, Spanish, Hand and head gestures were being used. I used reflection to consider how i could assist these children in future iterations, for some how to help them be more assertive and others how to help their friends become involved in conversation and play.

1. The differences in development between the children in the video were shown by how they interact with one another while playing in a group setting. Even though some spoke different languages, they worked together and played through mutual understanding.
2. the cycle of curriculum development tells us to observe the child, reflect on the observations made, and then plan something to keep the learning going.
3. I was participating in reflection during this time by seeing how each child interacted with one another and played with the toys. After observing their behavior I reflected and made logical connections. I was able to see which children liked playing with others and those who were more independent. I was also able to see which children where flexible enough to engage in play with others and be okay with sharing toys and ideas.

Even though, all the children in the video are from the same age group there is a significant difference observed in in their development; that includes language development and social skills. some have highly developed social skill that helped them work with their peers for a common goal. I am participating in this activity by reflecting what I saw the children do in the video and relating it with my knowledge of child development

The differences in development between the children in this video, are that some of them were playing cooperatively, and others were playing parallel to them. Some of the children were playing using description and body language, while others were playing quietly by themselves.
The children were building with blocks and making up a story to go with what they were building. The children were going back and for mixing Spanish with English.
By observing the children and what they are doing, I can learn about their individual personality and how each child is bringing their own individual learning style into the cooperative play.

although the children were roughly in the same age group some of the differences in development were the way in which the children were interacting. some were working on tasks individually while others were working alone. in addition, some children were orchestrating the play and story-line, while the others followed along. overall the play was very harmonious and displayed teamwork and imagination. part 2 or the cycle is refection. a care giver uses this reflection from observation to help develop a plan to greater assist in the overall development of the children's growth

The children were in a comfortable, safe, learning environment. In the video during free play children were allowed to explore their environment. When students are free to choose and are not constrained, they can develop healthy social and emotional skills. Their environment supports healthy language and diversity. Through reflection teachers can analyze, and evaluate. This allows teachers to refine curriculum and make sure it supports students individually.

It was nice to see all the children play together even thought they had some differences, like language. They were all engaged in playing and not one was out doing something else. Reflection involves describing, analysing and evaluating our thoughts, assumptions, beliefs, etc. It takes development and time to practice.

Although the children are all engaging in imaginative play, some want to build by themselves and others prefer to communicate with each other to build a collective creation. I noticed that some children are talking in English, some in Spanish, and a combination. I really enjoyed the creativity in the imaginative play!

after observing this video i found that the children in this video were using their skills to get along. for example they used different languages but still worked as a team in their imaginative play. also i found that one child was alone in the beginning of this video.

the bi-lingual communication between the kids was great. they all shared the blocks and were able to have multiple parallel play throughout the whole classroom. assisting the others in building and being able to talk out what they liked and didn't like.

Although there are differences in these children's development by how they interact and play together there was still an imaginative and cooperative play happening. Even with a language barrier between Spanish and English the kids were still able to communicate through hand gestures and body language.

The children in the video all act different. Some are outgoing, charismatic and playful, while others are shy and submissive in their play. One boy played by himself until he started following the charismatic boy around, acting like his shadow. He wouldn’t pick blocks up himself when the charismatic boy would go and get more; he instead would follow him very close, keeping his arms to his body, to and from the block shelf and the boat the charismatic boy was making. This is an example of differences in social and self-esteem development. The quiet, passive boy hasn’t embraced his own sense of direction in the classroom and is feeding off of the other boys, while the charismatic boy has embraced his own sense of direction and intention. All of the children are playing cooperatively, gently and patiently. They are listening to each other’s ideas and building their imaginative play off of each other. One boy said he was building a boat, and another boy spoke of a shark nearby. One boy started building a house and left his project, while a different boy started playing with his project as if he was at his own house.

I am participating in step two (reflection) of the cycle of curriculum development by interpreting what I notice about the children playing with each other. I firstly watched the video (observed what the children were doing and saying, as well as how they interacted with one another), and now I have reflected upon the differences between each child, interpreting what the differences mean. I have evaluated, analyzed and described the information I gathered through the first step of observation.

The group of children were playing individually and together; they were communicating in both English and Spanish. By observing and reflecting the teacher can find the interests of the children some of which were sharks, houses, and making sure that all pieces could be found to complete the circle puzzle made from blocks. This group of children were comfortable playing together and seemed familiar with the rules and expectations of the classroom. It was a very calm and polite group of children.

As seen in the video, the children are playing very well together despite somewhat of a language barrier. It seemed that the children were comfortable with their environment and rules/ expectations of the classroom. Imaginative play was also happening along with other individual play.This activity would be a very good activity as a planned observation to see how the children play together or seperately or how some children interact with one another.

There are two developmentally different groups of children interacting while playing with blocks and one single child playing with blocks on her own. One group of boys were very communicative despite different languages and were able to work together creating a large block structure. The other group of boys were less social and preferred to focus on just a few choice window and door blocks using mostly fine motor skills.
Through reflection of my initial observations I can determine how to keep the learning going. I would plan more activities that work to involve the children in cooperative play as well as offering opportunities to use fine motor skills.

Some of the children play alone, others work together to build something. Some children seem move advanced in their fine motor skills and hand eye coordination and help other line up the blocks so they are even.

I found that the children were interacting pretty well and working together even though there was a language barrier.All of them were developmentally doing the things they should have been doing regarding imaginative play by building a shark. I found it was easier for them to use hand singles and gestures to communicate with one another than not communicate at all.

By observing the actions of the children as they played, I was able to see that there were a couple different levels of interaction going on. There were kids that were seemingly younger that were creating more simple building structures and focusing on balancing a single block. Then there were children who were working together, getting one block at a time and methodically building. They were using their imagination, saying it was a shark. They were flexible in taking on new ideas and allowing others to join. In this activity, I am practicing Step 2 in the cycle-reflection, by taking what I saw and interpreting it based on existing knowledge that I have surrounding children and what is typical to see at certain stages of development.

The children worked together to build with the blocks. A few children worked alone. The children discussed with each other as they played. When the teacher asked what the children were making, they replied a shark. The children used their imaginations.

Reflecting on what I had observed from this video there were two groups of two boys playing and building with blocks. they were building a track that wrapped all around the carpet area and they experimented with a round block to try and roll it around the track. expressed that it was a shark at one point pushing it to go through a tunnel. the other group of two boys were playing with the blocks door and windows saying that there were crocodiles and opening up the doors and looking at each other through them. and then there were a couple other kids to the side playing and building by themselves parallel to the other kids playing and talking with each other.

I found myself most attentively watching the little boy at the far left of the screen. While all of the children appeared to be speaking a mixture of Spanish and English in the video and between 4-5, again their differences in temperament and social adjustment were obvious as they engaged in this continuum of play.

The boy in light and dark blue at the far right was in the block area, but rather than engaging with his peer in making the shark and avoiding the alligators, he stayed focused on his little house, repeatedly aligning the windows with the door.

He occasionally acknoledged the other boys, but seemed unable to play with them, even when one directly came into his space and started playing something else. This child, who was wearing yellow and black was very concerned with finding his other block to complete his work with the circle, and seemed oblivious to the boy making the small house or the shark players to his right.

The first boy, the quiet one originally making the house on the far left did not seem to feel comfortable either telling the boy that this was his space, inviting the child to play his game, or asking if he could play the circle block game

Eventually the quiet boy tuned in and tried copying the boy who asked for the missing block, but by this time if I remember correctly the other child had moved on and was reengaged with the boys playing sharks, who now seemed to be cued in to the larger structure being a house.

Further down the continuum, the first boy attempted to follow the lead of the boy in yellow and black who had come into his space, but was not quite able or confident enough to copy his gross motor movements and vocalizations as he straddled the blocks.

I would continue to observe the boy in blue for if this is an organic delay or simply a matter of temperament, and in the future perhaps aid him in making him aware or what the other children are doing or giving him dialogue of how to engage with them and see if he can make the leap from proximal to group imaginative play that is typical of his age group and will be theoretically more fun for him.

The children seemed to have different levels of development. Since they were all moving around so fast, it was a bit difficult to distinguish all of the kids. However, I noticed that one girl tended to stay in her own area and was building a small structure in her contained play area. Others focused more on interaction, with communication in both English and Spanish, and worked together to build with the blocks. Other kids liked to jump around and play in the structure that the other kids had built, and one boy was rolling a round block along the block structure. These all demonstrate different preferences of the students and can tell us something about each of their developments. Reflection is asking "what does it mean", and in this case, I am reflecting on the observations that I have made about the students in terms of their different interactions in this environment. Reflection is critical because it helps you translate observations into plans of action for how to improve a child's development in the future. For example, maybe for the kids that are jumping and playing together, I would work with them more on motor skills and building. Maybe for the girl who is building a structure in the corner by herself and is not interacting with other students, I would interact help her with activities where she can interact with others.

Not sure if it was a bilingual classroom or some may only speak spanish but I noticed the children were all getting along together no matter what the language situation was and were able to communicate very well and were sharing very nicely.

The only concern I had was the little girl who didn't appear too much in the video, my assumption is she was in that spot the whole video and preferred to be in her own space, teacher should try to have more socially inclusive activities with her for further observation.

In the classroom, there were some children that knew what they wanted to do and set the standard for the other children to follow. While some children wanted to stand the blocks up, and others lay them down, the children would adjust their blocks positioning to be like the others of the majority in the area. There were no real differences in development in the children. I would expect to see some children alone on their own, and some to be in groups. However every child in the video interacted and participated in someway with the other kids building something together. Reflecting on what I am seeing it means that the children are developing very well and are learning to recognize problems while woking together to build and create something. This allows me to see what children might need help in areas of play, social engagement, physical motor skills, etc where I can then do more work with individual children on a one on one or small group basis.

Took the words from my mouth, I really liked when certain blocks where taken away from their original spot the child who placed it where he wanted didn't use any physical distress he used his words to the other child and put his block back where he wanted to go for his enjoyment

The children played with blocks and helped each other figure out how they could go together. They spoke English and Spanish and used full sentences ranging from 1 word to 5 words roughly. This is can be a developmental characteristic of preschool kids and it's really interesting seeing them go from just saying one word statements/sentences at age 1 to saying full on sentences by age 4.

What I observed were two groups of kids making a shark and one group making a house. The languages of the boys was different (i.e. Spanish and English); however that didn't stop them from their goal. Some children were more apt to interact with others while some didn't interact. The boys also differed as to how the blocks worked. This reflection will allow for teachers to plan activities and make lesson plans for their classroom based upon these observations and reflections.

I think that the kids in this video played very nicely with each other. No one was yelling at each other and all seemed to be on the same page with what they were doing. I also noticed that when one kid would take a block away or change what another child had just done no one seemed to react in a negative way and just went along with what was happening.

I think that the children in the video are doing a wonderful job interacting together. They are using great verbal and communication skills. Reflection is an important skill to learn when you are young because it is a skill you need to be able to use throughout life. Providing a safe place for the children to be able to reflect is a critical component in Early Childhood Education. When ECE providers help with the reflection process , like as questions it helps with child develop language skills.

The children in the video were all working together very nicely, sharing the blocks and discussing with each other where the blocks should go. No one was fighting over pieces or being disrespectful to the materials (throwing, stepping on). They used a combination of English, Spanish, and hand gestures to communicate their plans.
The work went beyond the "work mat" but it didn't disrupt anyone else's work so there was no reason to stop them.
All the children showed well-developed gross motor skills: walking around the blocks, jumping over, and moving around each other with out bumping into other bodies. Their fine-motor skills were apparent as they adjusted blocks to line up so a cylinder could roll along the path, or pushed a cylinder through an archway.
Most of the students working together were boys. The one girl wasn't as involved and was actually putting a few blocks away. I can't tell from the short video if she is normally less involved or simply didn't want to be recorded.
Reflecting on my observations, the children were socially appropriate for their age, working together without much conflict and displaying the expected gross and fine motor skills for this age.

I could tell a difference of development between the children as displayed by what kinds of structures they were building. One group was building a house but also getting focused on the door for most of the observation time. Another group was building a longer and elaborate road or highway. This group also used a cylinder block to roll on the blocks laid down. This shows that this group was a little more advanced developmentally.
While watching this video i was in Step 2 of the curriculum cycle, reflection because I was thinking about where in the developmental spectrum these children are for motor, social, and abstract thinking skills. By observing and reflecting on what I see I am able to brainstorm ways to peek children's interest in areas they aren't as strong in and also bridge their playing with lessons we could have.

While watching this video, I noticed that the children were actively playing together. Some were quieter while others were more vocal and likely to initiate the conversation and ask questions and I noticed that one of the quieter boys seemed to be following the more vocal boy's lead while playing. I also noticed that one girl seemed to be playing by herself. I am reflecting during this activity by thinking about what my observations mean. I noticed some differences between the children. They are probably in slightly different spots along the developmental continuum. If I were a teacher in that class, then watching the children interact and reflecting on what I observe would help me to know how to best support each child and how to work with the group as a whole.

The children were playing in a very cooperative manner, some together, while others were playing by themselves. They were speaking Spanish as well as English. It seemed like one little guy was building with a few blocks, but he was also observing. As we observe and they reflect upon what was observed it helps us plan curriculum for the children to help them learn..I liked the way they were using their imagination and building a house for the sharks. This could lead into an under the sea lesson plan. The children were playing very well together and not knocking down another child's work. The teacher was positive, which is so important in helping the children during their play. They were building so well together it was very impressive to watch them as they talked one with another and some were very coordinated in the way they jumped over the blocks. They were in need of big muscle play.
