1. Ongoing professional development is exactly what the name suggests. As an educator, it is your job to continuously build your character and professionalism by continuing your own education, keeping up with trends, and doing things to better yourself individually and as an educator of children.
2. My plans to continue to grow as a professional are to keep moving forward and always keep learning. I plan to take professional development classes, education classes, and management classes. I plan to continue taking initiative and doing whats right education. I will document this growth online through MERIT or add classes, etc. to my professional flash drive which contains credentials up to this point.

I will take the minimum annual training (which is easy to do) and document it in MERIT.

On-going professional development is continued education and learning that helps you to continue to develop new skills and learn more about your field. It allows you to stay update to date and current in your field.
I plan to continue to take STARS course yearly with a minimum of 10 hours a year. If I decide that I will continue in the field after my children enter grade school I will pursue my CDA and a Masters degree in education and teaching to supplement the bachelors degree I already have in psychology and business management.

On- going professional growth is when someone keeps learning and growing as a person in the field that they want to go into or to make them a better, more well equipped professional. I plan to get my CDA in the next year or so and then I plan to go on and get my bachelor's in early childhood once my kids start school.

Ongoing professional development is when you obtain further education in your field on a continual basis. My goal is to obtain a CDA and a bachelors. In the future, my goal is to become a Kindergarten teacher. I love early childhood and have worked in that field for most of my adult life.

In my regular job I am constantly learning. Since i will be working in childcare PT for the first time, I will definitely have a large learning curve working with little ones and interacting with them and getting to know them. I will learn a lot from the childcare team I will be work with and I am excited to enter this adventure.

What is on-going professional development?
On-going professional development is anything that adds to your knowledge and resources of caring for children, wether it is something that is understood intellectually or applied in practice.
This can be through STARS training, earning a CDA, AA, Bachelors, or beyond. I personally read books on child development or anything i find useful in my spare time, and trade books with other teachers, even though it isn't something that's "accredited" I consider it part of my professional development, as it gives me a deeper and richer understanding of what it is I'm trying to do.

What are your plans for continuing to grow as a professional? How will you document that growth?
I am currently enrolled in an AAS for child development. I also was informed that I could sit in for free on an internship class at UW that teaches Philosophy to children. I read lots of books on child development, Alison Gopnik, Paul Bloom, and Steven Pinker are great authors. I finished reading Hillbilly Elegy a memoir, which taught me how important a loving person in a child's life is and how delicate that fabric is and how it can change the course of someones life. I plan on getting a bachelors in philosophy, because of those are the things that i want to bring down and teach, critical thinking, questioning, and honing the art of a well-lived life.

Professional development is the commitment of professionals to better themselves as they go. To learn more, strive harder, update their knowledge, increase the scope of their knowledge, buffer their skills.

I definitely will commit to all of these things while I am a young child care professional. Though my ultimate career goals are to be a secondary ed art teacher and then an art therapist, you never know where the road of life may take you and I will commit to wherever I am education and at whatever age to focus more on being the best educator I can be.

My plans for continuing to grow as a professional is to finish my STARS Basic training here first, then after that begin work on my CDA to work towards being a director/program supervisor of a child care center.

On-going professional development is when you reach the first step in your professionalism and say "you know what, I want to know more, I want to be more, I want to be the best i can be" so it's taking the steps to continue to grow.
My plans as a professional is to explore and find the field I love being in. I love working and educating kids and being a big influence in their lives but what does that mean for me? maybe a social worker? a teacher? A director? but the steps i am going to take to find out is to set short term goals to help me find what road i'm going to take; one day at a time.
