I guess to be more specific. I'd say I will come up with several activities in hand. Then serve it on the table and observe which ones they like. I would choose activity that moves bodies. Once a relationship is built up, we can progress into a more challenging work

I guess to go more in depth with this I'd say that yes a buys schedule for busy minds and bodies is always good. But I'd also want there to be room in that schedule for the child to be able to express themselves, and try new things.

I totally agree that a child with a high activity level needs a busy schedule. There needs to be a lot of movement activities and learning activities to keep their minds busy. Exploring their environment. Maybe setting different things out and allowing the child to chose which activity he or she would be most interested in because you know they will stay with it longer if they have a big interest in the particular activity.

one way to adapt your classroom for a child with a high activity level is to come to class prepared with multiple activities. For example with toddlers, it says a suggested time for activities but also notes on all of them to stop when the kids lose interest. So if you come with multiple different type of activities, you'll have something to move on to next.

Or You can also limit visual clutter on walls so it can help reduce distractions .. Offering alternative seating arrangements is a great way to support children with disabilities. Depending on the needs of the individual child, you can have them sit near you or a peer buddy, in a quiet area of the classroom, or provide an alternative seating option that will help them focus in class. Rearranging the layout of the classroom, especially in regards to classroom furniture, can also help.

As we learnt each child is different and so are his needs. I would plan an activity that keeps his/her energy into it.That is I am trying to channelize that hyper energy into a positive learning. For this we need to observe the child and find out what his/her interest is in. Once he/she is occupied they will be normal.

I agree, children with high activity levels need almost constant movement activities. They do seem to enjoy outdoor play the best and walks, lots of walks, nature walks or just a walk around the block. Get them outside with lots of fresh air. Inside, they love to exercise with you or just turn on the music in a safe delegated place and let them dance and get some of that energy out. Then most of them can settle down for a project or circle time etc

High levels of activity can cause problems for some children. If they get bored, they will find other outlets. Biting, hitting, yelling, crying, anything to get attention. Dancing, singing, outside time, games in the classroom like simon says, and any other activity that keeps the child's mind and body engaged are a few things I do to help children with high activity levels.

I agree with you on all of this. Keeping a child busy who has more active tendencies than the other kids can be difficult. We tend to have a few outside times a day and we do a lot of "dance concerts" where the kids put on dress up and then we play their favorite songs on loop for about half an hour and they all dance and get so so tired.

One way to adapt your classroom for a child with a high activity level would be to give them activities that are relatively the same to what the other children in the classroom are doing, but a bit more challenging. Therefore, the child is kept busy longer than usual and doesn't disrupt the other children when finishing early and challenges their mind and skills.

In my classroom. I allow children with a high activity level to be my helper. Meaning, when he/she is done with their lesson/activity he or she can then assist the teacher with making preparations for the next classroom event. From my past experience, some children that have a high activity level are very smart and can easily become board with subject matters. I also encourage children with high activity levels to help their peers who are slow learners with their activities, For example, helping a friend put a puzzle together.

Bigger puzzles especially can be helpful because it allows them to use their motor skills in their adept manner. Also, toy cars and kitchen toys tend to help because they are constantly moving around and are engaged in active play.

One way is to simply have an outdoor classroom like they are doing in forest kindergartens. Indoor classrooms would do well to have a physical play area with tumble mats, risers, tunnels, and extra materials for building ‘forts’ and such. Also, incorporating yoga, animal imitations, follow-the-leader, singing & dancing, and other movement activities is great for all children, especialy the active ones.

One way that I would adapt my classroom for a child with a high activity level is to keep an area of the classroom with different toys and games that the child could easily reach and get out on their own so that they can go to that area and pull out the toys whenever they like. I think this would be a good way to make sure that an activity is always provided for the child and by giving them a specific area for this where they are in control of their own play gives them a sense of control over their actions and their play.

The oldest kiddo in our classroom (before he moved up) was a high activity level kiddo. When he could scoot and army crawl, he scooted and army crawled everywhere. When he could crawl, he crawled everywhere. When he learned to walk, he walked everywhere. When we put him in an Exersaucer or Jumperoo, he jumped and jumped and jumped. When he was in our classroom, we tried the best we could to keep much of the floor space open so he could move about freely without tripping on toys and other things on the floor. We also bought some large soft climbing blocks for him to crawl over and sit on. These blocks are so awesome, and he loved them. He would walk around and around them, climb over them and on top of them, and the other kiddos in the room loved watching him. I think a really cool way to adapt for high activity level kiddos, is to just provide them with space (especially in an infant room) to crawl and explore and climb.

High activity children love movement or activity games. In order to adapt my classroom for a child with a high activity level, I would want to make sure there was space for them to move around in. An area for them to dance to music, and more hands-on activities (where low activity level children might like to label or color in head, shoulders, knees, and toes, high activity level children would love to get up and act it out) so that they could use up some of that energy would be a great adaptation to the classroom.

Children with a high activity level need to be able to run and play. They also need to be provided activities throughout the day that will challenge them on multiple different levels while remaining simple enough to understand. As a teacher, our classroom has an open centers setup. There are scheduled times for crafts, science experiments, and other learning activities but for the most part, ALL centers are open and available to my children at ALL times during the day. I can make sure that I have many simple but challenging activities ready for the child that can be done if the child finishes quickly, looses interest, or needs a redirect. Another thing I feel is helpful is to give them a job. Children love to feel wanted and needed. They love to feel important and by giving them something extra to do can help in so many ways.

Have an option for kids who need to let out excess energy, such as a "wiggle wall" where kids have to "glue" their hands to the wall and run as fast as they can in place for 10-20 seconds at a time. Also, sing songs that involve gross motor movements plus following directions.

When caring for children with high energy, it helps to lead class activities that engage both their mind and their bodies. If some of your students are getting antsy during circle time, suggest a short dance party to get some of that extra energy out. It is possible that having something the child can fidget with will help keep their elevated energy levels at bay when necessary.

I currently have a classroom that is made up of 14 preschool boys. To say the level of activity is high is an understatement. We have adjusted our schedule to ensure that there is enough time to get their energy released in a safe and impactful manner. For instance, I have stations set up after they complete their entry task. I have transition times that are filled with stretching, dancing, singing, or other ways to move the body and expel the energy. I have also limited the amount of time of sitting and recognized the need to adjust the schedule pending on daily activities and the needs of the students. We have a field trip tomorrow, thus providing utter chaos in my classroom today as they are all excited to visit the pumpkin patch tomorrow. I had to be realistic in my goals and realize that a successful day does not always look like others and that by adjusting the schedule, I am setting the kids and myself up for a better outcome.

For kids with higher activity levels I make sure that they have a lot of outdoor time to run and get some of their energy out. Sometimes they do not know how to do this exactly so I arrange relay races, obstacle courses or organized games such as soccer practice/ basketball ect. When they get out some of their energy they have an easier time when it is time to do more structured activities. If they have too much energy while our class has come together I ask them to go to the quiet area and read a book or relax with comfy pillows until they are ready to join us. I feel that having options to go away from a structured situation and come back provides them with time to refocus and eventually rejoin on their own time.

One way to adapt a classroom for a child with a high activity level is to observe what their interest are. For example a child could be floating from one center to the next with nothing really holding their attention but you observe that when art projects are presented that it holds their attention and you can see them processing and looking closely trying to put all the pieces together. I would then adapt my classroom to have a center dedicated more to an activity of putting things together such as puzzles.

Successful ways we accommodate highly active children in our classroom include clearly labeling areas of the classroom for specific tasks like a reading corner, craft area, and toy mat. These marked areas allow active children to let out their energy and creativity in appropriate areas. Another tactic we use is "30 second dance parties". We play a song and the kids can let out their energy in a certain area of the classroom. Lastly, we always take advantage of the outside play structure so they can really get some active playtime as well.

But each child is different. Some of them on the high levels of energy do well with singing and dancing. Of course the teacher has to be alert to see that the class is not getting out of order. A child with a high activity level can thrive in any setting provided the caretakers are flexible with the children's ability to wander respectfully and give the child plenty of space and time to actively play, developing their gross motor skills. a child with a high activity level may need to be redirected often and may need more challenges than others to keep them motivated to achieve more sedentary skills.

I'd create different work areas, that have lots of works with varying degrees of challenge. If they are high activity, then they need to be able to explore spaces and ideas, because limited works and challenges will leave them bored, and looking for other ways to burn energy. I'd also make sure to provide more group activities, sot he high activity children would have time to work on social skills, and give them more chances to connect with other classmates and teachers, so they'll have more people to do activities with.

One way to serve a child with a high level of activity is to provide time for the child to exert energy (ie: recess). Make sure there are plenty of "breaks" in the curriculum so that the children can stretch, move around, etc. You can also have more movement based classroom activities for the children.

There are a few different ways I could help a child with high activity level adapt to a classroom. One of the first things I would do, would be to show them a sensory table/bin. A lot of times, a child with a busy body just needs to occupy their hands. Another thing I might try would be to play some songs, and demonstrate the dance moves. This way the child can get their energy out, and also be engaged in learning something new.

Have hand motions or sign language for every activity, this will help their body to be able to wiggle but not be distracting for the other children. These signs could be the signs of reading, friends, or teaching them how to spell the alphabet for them to practice silently at their desk.

A child with a need for high activity can be a challenge in a classroom. There are, however easy adaptations that can help him/her be successful in the classroom environment. Having opportunities for children to complete hands-on activities rather than worksheets. Allowing a child to stand in back as opposed to always sitting on the carpet. Having physical activities daily is important as well as never taking away recess time as a consequence.

Children with a lot of energy need to be allowed to have a body in motion. One exercise we frequently do is let the kids play on a big toy on the playground while we work on spelling or phonics. For instance, we might be working on the letter "C". We line the kids up and ask each child to give us a word that starts with "C". Then they can have a turn on the big toy. When we run through the line, we start again with having them spell one of our spelling words of the week. When they spell it correctly---or with a little help :)---they take another turn on the big toy. They are able to get their wiggles out and process the information at the same time.

One way to adapt the classroom for a child with a high activity level is to make sure that the dramatic play has lots for the child to do. That it is engaging not only with stuff for them to do but to dress up as well. For example in a doctor type dramatic play- their can be the doctor with the patient, the xray technologist taking pictures and the nurse taking care of the after care.
If this high activity child doesn't like dramatic play I would make sure that there would be lots of other works that they could enjoy. I have a few high activity kids and they really enjoy cars with tracks. So I try to make sure I have at least a little bit of that out all times.

Getting enough outdoor physical activity is especially important for children who seem to be always in motion! In the classroom, providing a choice and series of constructive activities that use large and small muscle groups and that engage their senses and provoke curiosity that helps to focus their minds is important, as well. Two or more activity centers can be open at one time, then rotated. Also, providing quieter activities, like watercolor painting, seems to be very popular with children who have a lot to express; it has a natural calming effect and gives an opportunity for easy mastery of making something expressive of their very own.

Having a schedule and provide activities that allows them to move and learn

One way I can adapt my classroom to a high activity level child is by having a "movement" activity in the classroom at all times. For example, right now, in my toddler classroom, I have a wall that my children can climb on throughout the day whenever they need or want to. Having at least one "movement" activity each day would also help the child.

Make sure the classroom is wide open without too many desks and chairs. And then set a couple of stations to keep children on task all the time. Singing and dancing circle is a good way for kids with a high activity level.

I would keep the classroom itself open and uncluttered, provide lots of opportunities for outside play and large motor skill practice. For times when the group is doing more calm, quiet type activities, I would do my best to include movement, such and fingerplays, coloring, etc.

Provide a schedule and structured plan that stays the same that the child can expect and work with. Redirect child to keep them busy

In the classroom I am in we have a few 1-2 years olds that have high activity level. To adapt the classroom to those kids we try to have as many options for them in activities, it is hard to keep the attention span of young kids that age. When the weather is nice we take them outside for as much time as we can, and when the weather isn't as nice we have parachutes and tunnels that we open in the classroom, also for some of the older ones we allow them the opportunity to run the halls to get the extra energy out and keep them active and to try and keep them entertained.

I have a very busy classroom. I have an open play policy. my room is open to all activities at all times as long as we are inside. I never make a child sit down for an activity. I offer and ask if anyone wants to play, that way they feel they have a choice. I also let them come and go as they please from each activity until they find one that pleases them.

Preparing your class room for a high actvity level child can be done by having games, and other open play ideas that allow childern to make different choices as they please.

You can do this by providing a specific area in the classroom for them to play and dance to release that extra energy. Also allowing them to have a dance session before circle time is also another great way.

Creating a specific area in the classroom for the child to explore and play. Also providing a dance area for the child or children to dance in.

Change the classroom so there are a lot of hands on activities. Sometimes you might need to even move some stations around so maybe the kids could do some jumping jacks and stretching to get some energy out.

Rearranging the layout of the classroom, make sure there is not a lot of visual clutter on the walls, play soft music it can help calm the classroom down, changing the lighting (dim the lights), put different activities on the tables like thinking toys, games, puzzles.

Children with high activity levels can be accommodated by incorporating more movement activities and modifying non-movement activities by allowing them to stand, etc and giving movement breaks if they must sit.

Having all different toys, activities, and learning things out for the children to play with helps them. Small, medium, and big toys like animals, blocks, and puzzles creates a high activity level. More than a couple toys, a variety has the children use their imagination.

In order to adapt my classroom to accommodate a child with a high activity level, I would have plenty of open centers and activities, as well as maintain a consistent schedule.

A child with a high activity level is a child who needs to be moving constantly, and a great way to adapt your classroom would be to involve more gross motor activities and games that involve movement. Games like "Duck, Duck, Goose!" or "Red Light, Green Light." Or even just adding a round of stretches to your morning circle time can make a huge difference in the child's engagement.

A way that I would adapt a classroom for a child with a high activity level would be to have various activities and things that they can do and move on to once they have grown tired of one thing. Setting up different stations and things to do so that they can have many things to do.

A child with a high activity level might need to be in a classroom that could keep his body and mind a little more engaged through movement. I would adapt my classroom by having more movement learning activities, games and music with motion.

There are many ways that one can make a classroom more appropriate for a high energy child. One thing to keep in mind is the aspect of safety. When the child is in the classroom and has a high energy level, they need to be away from things that are sharp, things that will make them fall down, etc. Providing toys that are interactive and use tools that can be an outlet for high energy kids, such as a hammer and nails, can be a good outlet for that energy. Things that are designed to climb on are always good, something that encourages the child to use his or her muscles can help put a high energy child at ease. As a teacher, I would find an activity that requires a lot of movement, such as dancing together or doing excursive etc. The other thing that always comes in handy is going for a walk or going outside with the child.

one way to adapt your classroom for a child with a high activity level is to come to class prepared with multiple activities. For example with toddlers, it says a suggested time for activities but also notes on all of them to stop when the kids lose interest. So if you come with multiple different type of activities, you'll have something to move on to next.

Altercations occasionally made to the schedule if the child gets bored, throwing activities such as fake snowballs to a target, music/dance time, strength activities such as pushing something with a bit of weight across the floor

It would help to have a schedule and try to have short transitions between activities. You could also appoint them as being a teacher helper.

I would adapt my classroom by incorporating music into our day to day routine. I am a very musical person and I feel music is a great source to use in order to help a child with a high activity level stay active and as focused as possible. Apart from the normal outside physical activities the child is involved in, I believe music could help the child with his or her high activity level. We could have singing sessions, dance time, or even some fun games of musical chairs that will hopefully keep the child active and in a constant state of business so that their high activity level does not affect them in the classroom.

To achieve a high activity in the classroom, it would be beneficial to ensure that the room is not too cluttered with furniture so as to allow a wide berth for activities such as dancing and acting.
