It is so important to let the families know we as educators are on board with their child's learning. We should make ourselves available in as many ways as possible without overdoing it to make sure our students are achieving their goals and learning the different materials we are presenting to the class.

I agree and disagree with this statement. I believe sandwich approach works incredibly well. If I am talking to a parent about something their child may be struggling with which I do believe is important to let them know, I always start off with saying something they are doing incredibly well. For instance, maybe they helped another student or the teacher, and then I mention
something they are struggling with and how the parent might be able to help them grow in that area, and then I would end it by giving another example of something they are doing well in class.

Clear communication is so incredibly important and a key for parents in being able to support the development of their children. If they are not working with the teacher to support the child in their development, this makes things so much harder for not only the teacher but also for the student because they are not being able to excel in what they are learning. For instance if they bring a project home and the parent refuses to take the time to work on it with their child, they are not able to increase their learning abilities.

You can support parents by making sure to know the families on a more intimate level than just drop off and pick up in order to understand why their child does the things they do in a better way. As well as making sure to outline the important milestones in development and when their child should be approaching that age as well as how they can assist at home wether it be through consistency or just talking about the things they go out and do together as a family.

Encouragement can be received through honesty, communication, active listening, respect and participation from both parties, the educator and the parent. It is very important for both parties to be able to work together to understand the child's weaknesses and strengths that way we can build an environment where the child feels accepted, valued and can engage.

I completely agree with this statement. Without building an environment where the child feels accepted and safe you cannot gain a relationship with the child nor their parents. By giving children a warm and safe greeting everyday is the start to allowing them to open up tp you. Showing the child the are valued will make them feel safe and how the parents can gain a relationship with that caregiver. Building a relationship is extremely important for the development of a child.

All families should be actively involved in the children's learning and development. Teachers should actively seek the family's involvement and create relationships with children's families. Parent's should be asked to share or participate in activities with children related to their cultural background. This creates a trust based relationship with the family and teacher, the teacher showing genuine interest in the family culture. The family will feel involved, respected and encouraged in supporting the development of their child.

How can you make sure all families receive encouragement in supporting the development of their children?

Communication is key to encouraging parents and giving them the tools to support their children. Making observations about the child’s development and communicating them in a respectful way to the parents can help. By letting the parents know what you’ve observed, ways that you have been supporting their child and letting them know you’re there for them.

The best way to encourage families to support the development of their child is to have open communication. Explaining to families what activities in your program specifically accomplish or foster in their child's development will help them to better understand their child's individual, unique needs and help them to make the best choices possible for healthy development at home as well. Asking questions to better understand the child will also help you as a teacher to make the best possible choices for each individual child's developmental needs and learning strategies. You are a wealth of information for the family to access to aid in helping their child grow, and the family is a wealth of information to you as a teacher to better understand each child's strengths, weaknesses, and developmental needs.

Encouragement can be delivered in different ways as can communication. Sending a completed behavior chart home every week with a personalized note about the child’s strengths and their improvements seen for the week would help reassure the parent that their child is receiving individualized attention.

Two area that stood out to me were communication and being open-minded. Staying connected with the parent with create a positive environment for the child and show the parent/guardian that you will try your best to be the best for their child. Also, A teacher should be open minded to the students needs. If they did not have breakfast that morning, address that first. Or if there is a certain area that the child is not as strong in, focus on that. Focus on what the child needs on an individualistic level as opposed to a whole classroom approach.

I believe the best way to provide encouragement is by constant communication with parents and other educators. In my experience with childcare, I believe you are teaching parents just as much as you are teaching children. You spend between 6 and 10 hours a day with their children, so sometimes, you really do know them better. Keeping honest and open communication with the parents is the best way to maintain encouragement in every environment.

A clear and honest communication with the parents on regular basis is very important to make sure that they are getting enough support to encourage their children’s development. We have to make sure that the teachers and the parents are on same page about what they want to work on in their child’s development. Telling the parents how the child’s day went , what we are working on now, what needs more attention and all these communication will help the parents to support their child’s development.

Communication is the most important. This means communicating with the families every day you look after their children, whether it's telling them something positive their child did or communicating an obstacle faced with that child. When speaking of an obstacle faced, it's important for the educator to speak about how the obstacle was overcome, as well as listening to the parent's thoughts on how the obstacle was overcome.

We do monthly progress reports. We have a quick 5 minute conversation with families at drop off or pick up, whichever they prefer. This lets families know what milestones their children have achieved as well as keeping a paper trail as to how children are improving. We have daily talks in the mornings before the parents leave for the day, and touch base as to how their child did that day.

The most vital thing to stress with parents is that it's important to have an honest and open form of communication. Children don't make connections in the same way that adults do, and need a lot more explanation in a somewhat abstract way for their questions to be answered. Not only does open communication allow for trust in a relationship between parent and child, but it opens the doors to a very encouraging and uplifting relationship.

Communication and education are key components to making sure that families receive the encouragement that they need to support the development of their child. Clear communication is important because it is beneficial to be able to clearly state and communicate what to do to help and support the child. Parent, child and the teacher are the three most important factors when it comes to learning. By "learning", it means a vast thing. Which starts with childhood and continues throughout. Honest communication between the children and their families builds the basis of trust which further helps the child to gain confidence. Active participation and keeping track of development in a friendly manner helps the child connect with their families in the long run. It is very important for the teacher to work closely with the families. There should be a clear communication between the two as to how to track the development of the child and to work on a plan to achieve it. Encouragement from the teacher for volunteering in different activities is a great way of doing this.

Communication, transparency and trust are paramount when it comes to encouraging parents/caregivers to engage in the child's development. Setting a tone of collaboration through transparency and communication allows parents and caregivers to feel confident that the child is in a safe and supportive learning environment. Oftentimes, parents of younger children may feel apprehensive and nervous about leaving their children at school or daycare. Frequent communications cultivates a sense understanding and engagement. It allows parents to know what the child is working on academically, socially, and emotionally, which builds participation and empathy. It also gives parents an avenue with which to engage in open-ended questions with the children, which builds even more trust and communication. There is a huge difference between a parent being able to ask a child, "Tell me what you learned about snakes today!" rather than, "What did you do in school today?".

I agree with majority of comments in this discussion, I believe frequent conversations and keeping track of their children's development not only demonstrates you're invested and your sincerity, but encourages them to further engage in their development and/or education. Inviting parents to join in on activities and discussions, ables them to show their child they're a reliable support system.

Communication with the families is everything rather you are in a small class or a big one. Parents can receive encouragement in supporting their child’s development through ongoing communication. Parents need to communicate frequently to let parents know how their child is doing in class. Parents need informal and formal communication events initiated by teachers to understand their child’s behavior at school which will in turn support the child’s development at home.

The best way to encourage families to support the development of their children would be to gain open communication and trust with both the parents and the children. Learning the child's habits from the parent and discovering the independance of the child through play and projects. Pushing ongoing rapport regarding thier child development on a daily basis (or at least touching base a minimum of once a week) to discover the parent's practices to involve thier children's growth into thier daily routines.

It takes a teacher's involvement and dedication to encourage the children to trust us andgrow, and it takes a teachers involvement and dedication to keep open and Constant communication with the parents.

Teachers should communicate clearly and often to parents about their child's progress--brief check-ins should occur whenever possible, like during pick-up or through email. It is important to convey the positive behaviors and learning moments as well as the negative reports. Parents should be informed what they can do at home to support their child's growth and encourage their individual development.

Communication with parents is so incredibly important. It's important to develop mutual respect and a trust that the parents know that their children are in the best care they can possibly be in. As I mentioned in one of the comments above, communication also helps in allowing a child to succeed academically, because if a parent does not know or understand where there child is at in their learning process, they will not know how to help them to succeed, and also if a parent doesn't get involved in a child's learning, the child will not be able to be at the level they should be at because the parent is not aware is not working with the child to achieve their academic goals to help them to be successful in their learning.

How can you make sure all families receive encouragement in supporting the development of their children?

I see many folks have cited communication with families as key! Monthly newsletters on classroom happenings are a great way to keep families engaged with what their child is learning. Brief summaries of each day's events posted where families can see them at pick up can give parents a starting point to talk with their child about what they worked on at school.

Inviting families into the classroom to participate in developmentally appropriate projects with their children can help educators get to know each child's home life. Sharing stories, memories and traditions is a precious experience for families, and enriches the entire classroom community. Seeing their family culture valued and celebrated is validating for parents and children alike. The more time teachers are able to spend getting to know their families the more comfortable families will feel coming to teachers when they have concerns and questions.

How can you make sure all families receive encouragement in supporting the development of their children?

I believe that first you must build a strong foundation and relationship with the parents. They have to begin to know you and your heart and see that you truly do have their childs best interest at heart. Once you have that relationship it allows the open communication to be easier. You are able to mention how things are going, if you notice something that a kids really likes that can help them. That relationship and open communication allows you the opportunity to be able to have those conversations with the parents.

Giving positive feedback to the family about their child's development is an invitation for them to support more positive development. I also think that relating as much as possible in a cordial, welcoming manner to all people who bring the student to school equally is encouraging. I know that some families feel less important than others if the teacher always has really personalize culturally specific conversations with other families of the same cultural background during drop off or pick up times. All those little interactions send messages to families of in-group and out-group status. We want a ll families to feel like they are a part of their students learning environment.

According to the text, it is especially important to "recognize that all children are cognitively, linguistically, and emotionally connected
to the language and culture of their home"- and someone working closely with children should acknowledge that piece of information and honor that. I can show that I want to encourage the development of the children in my classroom by respecting their culture- thus showing families I care what goes on in a child's life in and out of the classroom. It also shows I care/respect the family I am working with, which creates a stronger bond between school life and home life for the parents, children, and myself.
Some other factors encourage/support the development of children, according to the text it is also important to understand that an educator should, "Acknowledge that children can demonstrate
their knowledge and capabilities in many ways" and "Understand that without comprehensible input, second-language learning can be difficult" and "Actively involve parents and families in the early learning program and setting" and "Encourage and assist all parents in becoming knowledgeable about the cognitive value for children of knowing more than one language, and provide them with strategies to support, maintain, and preserve home-language learning" and "Recognize that parents and families must rely on caregivers and educators to honor and support their children in the cultural values
and norms of the home". All of these factors intersect with one another in providing the best educational experience for children in preparing them for kindergarten and further educational pursuits. It also shows that I want to provide support for parents/families, since without them, it is impossible to serve children in the best way possible.

Talking with the parents, helping them understand what their child is going through, why their child might be behaving in a certain way and also helping them understand what is or isn't developmentally "normal." By communicating with the parents letting them know how the child's day went. Be excited if the child has done extra in the classroom for example picking up extra toys without being asked or if the child be came upset they removed themselves to take a breather.

by developing a relationship with both the child and their parent or guardian, you open an easier path for communication. building that bond and gaining trust helps families feel encouraged and supported. when working together we can provide what's best for a child.

By holding an open communicative relationship with the families about the needs and goals of the child, it is easier to discuss difficulties and adjustments that need to be made. By working together, hopefully we are able to achieve great progress.

Developing a rapport with the child and guardians and establishing clear and consistent communication is crucial. Accepting the child and updating guardians on activities and development.

I agree with this statement, if the parents see that their children's teachers/caregivers are being proactive and communicating with them it will make them feel like they are actually giving 100% of their attention and resorces to their child's development.

First of all, it is very important to take the time to get to know each family and talk daily about how the children are doing. And Have consistent meetings and allowing for open conversation about the children and how to best support them.

I believe open communication with the family would have to be the most important thing when dealing with a growing child.

its important to communicate with the families,so they know what their child is excelling at and what they are struggling with so that they can work on what they are struggling on so that they can help them at home as well as us helping them the child is in our care. it would also help the family to give suggestions on how they can help the child.

I think the best way to encourage families is to have good communication with them so they are comfortable with your input, as well as making things personal as well so they feel valued and like their opinion matters instead of us being superior in some way.

Open communication is the best way to encourage parents and families, its important to be able to reassure them that you support them and their parenting ( or at least respect their wishes). As well as being able to be there when they have concerns about their child's education, care and development.
